Sheldrak Cave is a main visiting site in the lower Yarlung Valley as the entrance to the Yarlung Valley above Sheldrak Monastery. It was Guru Rinpoche or Padmasambhava’s first meditation cave in Tibet. From there, the indigenous forces and bad evils subjected to Buddhism and showed their loyalty. It is one of the most significant pilgrim destination in Tibet and represents the high status of Padmasambhava in Tibetan Buddhism.

Once there was said to have a Padmasambhava speaking image but it has been moved to Tramdruk Monastery. The cave is also called the Crystal Cave because there is a highly polished blackish green rock on the cave floor. The cave now has new images of Padmasambhava with his two main consorts. The west wall of the cave shows images of Avalokiteshvara and the 25 disciples of Padmasambhava.

1.Reaching this cave is not an easy trip, so you should prepare enough in advance.
