Day 1 Arrival by train or air, transfer to Lhasa[3650 m], check in hotel, rest for acclimatization

Day 4 Lhasa-Shigatse city[3900 m], the 2nd largest city in Tibet
Day 5 Drive to Old Tingri

Day 9 Trek to Rongbuk-Everest Base Camp

Day 1: Arrival by train or air, transfer to Lhasa, check in hotel, rest for acclimatization


Upon your arrival, your local tour guide will pick you up at the airport/railway station and escort you to your hotel in Lhasa. The rest of the day is for you to take a good rest so as to adapt yourself to the high altitude of Lhasa.

Day 2: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street


Today what we will visit in Lhasa is the vital Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple with her vicinity. Potala palace is Lhasa’s most important landmark and she a wonder of Eastern architecture. Your first site of this massive structure will be a magical moment which will be remembered for your rest life time. It has been a palace since the fifth or sixth century and was once the home to the Dalai Lama. Well another visit we will take is to Jokhang Temple which locates at Barkhor Bazaar. This temple is the most revered shrine in Tibet and is constantly bustling with devout worshipers. We will also be given the opportunity to shop in Barkor Bazaar, the crowded central market in ancient section of Lhasa where is the residence of many local people.

Day 3: Drepung and Sera Monastery


After breakfasts in hotel, we will drive to west Lhasa city section (about 11 km) and give a visit to the Drepung Monastery,which was once the world’s largest monastery. Housing 10,000 monks, Drepung monastery lies hidden in rocky ridges just beyond the city. Surprisingly much of the building was left untouched throughout so many hundred of years.
In the afternoon, the site we will visit is Sera Monastery, a fifteenth century sprawl of golden roofs and whitewashed walls. This well preserved monastery is located just a few miles North of Lhasa and is home to several hundred monks. Its famous debating activities are happening 3-4 pm quite regularly every working day, we will not give it a miss.

Day 04 Lhasa/Yamdrok-tso lake/Gyantse-Shigatse


We follow the Friendship Highway to Gyantse, up to Kambala pass which is 4794 m high. From the top of the pass Kangpa-la at 4700 m in clear weather, you can see the fabulous shade of deep turquoise Yamdro-tso Lake that is shaped like coiling scorpion with deep blue in color. Then drive along the mountain down to Gyantse, visit the famous stupa – Gyantse Kumbum, the most stunning architectural wonder in Tibet. After late lunch in Gyantse, we continue our drive to Shigatse city which is the second largest city in Tibet. Overnight stop in Shigatse Manasarovar Hotel or similar one per your budget requests.

Day 5: Shigatse to Old Tingri, about 300 km well paved road


Visit Tashilunpo Monastery and the spectacular tombs of Panchen Lamas in Shigatse in the morning, then drive along Friendship Hwy to Old Tingri via Lhatse and Shegar Town. Your guide and driver as well as teh cook will do preparations for the trek, while you may have a good view of Cho Oyu.

Day 6 Trek to Lungthang, 4510 m, 5 hours/12 km/150 m up


Our trekking begins from Old Tingri, goes through the Tingri plain. Trekking along apart of the Ra-chu Valley, we will see the beautiful valley scenery with extensive meadows and groups of sheep and goats. The rest of the day we can visit a small gompa in Chholun. Tonight will be spent in a comfortable campsite in Lunthang. This bleak region is home only to herders and barley harvesters.

Day 07 Trek to Lamna La (5150 m) (8 hours/21 km/200 m up


The challenging trekking really starts today as we go up into the mountains. Much uphill walking is done as we climb towards the top of Lamna La. And we camp beyond the top of this pass.

Day 08 Trek to Zommug,4790 m


In the morning we descend steeply into lush vegetation. The only other people we will encounter are yak herders and their families. Camp will be made in the small village of Zommug. Truly amazing views can be seen as the sun sets in this barren town.

Day 9 Day 09 Trek to Rongbuk (4980 m) and EBC,5100 m


On our last day of trekking we will wind our way to the end destination of Rongbuk and Everest Base Camp. Along the way we can also visit the Dza Rongbuk monastery and Gompas. They are truly ancient sites, but nothing compared to our night camping at Everest Base Camp.

Day 10 Rongpuk/Shegar/Lhatse/Shigatse city


We drive a short distance from Rongpuk to Lhatse, then follow the friendship highway back to Shigatse city. Have a good rest after the adventure above during which you maybe really exhausted..

Day 11 Shigatse city back to Lhasa,280 km well paved road-China Nepal friendship Highway


Today we will leave Shigatse around 10 am and drive back to Lhasa via the central China Nepal friendship highway. We can get the lunch on the way. Around 6 pm, we get back to Lhasa safely.

Day 12 Final departure


After breakfasts in hotel, we will check out the hotel and drive safely to the Lhasa Gonggar Airport for your flight out of Tibet. Hope your Tibet trekking tour leaves you a wonderful memory.
