November 14, 2016 was the day that moon reached its closest point to the Earth and appears much bigger than other time. Placho Monastery, also known as Pelkor Chode Monastery, is the main monastery in Gyantse County, Tibet. It was one of the must-see attraction on our Tibet travel plan, for it combines three sects of Kadampa, Gelugpa and Sakyapa harmoniously together even enough they once fought together.

In the morning, we woke up at around 9am and then we stepped on the car to Shigatse. During the trip, our first destination is Yarmdrok Lake (4,441m). As one of the three holy lakes in Tibet, Yamdroktso locates at the Nangartse County of Shannan Region. It is only 70 Km far from Lhasa, so it did not take a long time for us to reach there.

The new opened highway on Oct. 23 connected Rabqen Town and Xia Lingka Town in Zogang County, standing for that now highways were fully covered in total 138 towns in Chamdo City, southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region.

According to China Daily, a Mountaineering center is planned to build in Gangkar Township, close to the northern slope of Qomolangma or Mt. Everest. This Mountaineering center is aimed at boosting Tibet economy and growing the mountaineering industry.
