Tibetan Bathing Festival
The Tibetan Bathing Festival, also called ‘Gamariji’, meaning Qishan Star or Venus in Tibetan language. Local people celebrates this festival in the early week of the 7th month in Tibetan Calendar. During this festival, local people would have a mass bath because they believe bathing at this period is good to their health. The legend said that during this period, the bath water has eight benefits, namely, sweet, soft, clear, clean, cool, light, no harm for throat, and no harm for belly. Also, the water has a relatively high temperature comparing to the climate, so it is suitable for bathing.
Local Tibetan also believe that bathing during the festival can wash your body and take away your diseases.
