November 14, 2016 was the day that moon reached its closest point to the Earth and appears much bigger than other time. Bagong Opera originated from the 12th century. During Sakya period, it was very popluar. It is 300 years earlier than other Tibetan opera. Thus people call it “the ancestor of Tibetan opera”.

Normally, a teacher choose a specific topic of mandala that need to be created, then, the monks begin to construct the sand mandala by consecrating the site with sacred chants and music. A group of monks work together from days to weeks to construct one sand mandala with millions of grains of colored sand. After it is completed, the mandala is consecrated.

Thangka refers to a religious scrolls painting on cotton or silk applique. It is a unique form of Tibetan painting art which covers many aspects of Tibetan history, politics, culture and social life. Thangka depicts a sacred Buddha world with bright colors, distinctive national characteristics, rich religious color and unique artistic style.

Travel in Tibet: before your entering the residential region of Tibetan local people, you will first see numerous colorful prayer flags blowing in the wind, sometimes waving gently, sometimes raging. The prayer flag is a rectangular cloth. Local people tie them to mountain ridges and mountain peaks to bless the surrounding countryside and their own purposes.
