Budget Everest Tour Program Details
Day 1: Lhasa to Shigatse (280 km, about 4-5 hours)
Our Tibetan guide and driver will pick you up from hotel at 8 am and leave for Shigatse city, the second largest city in Tibet. On the way, you will enjoy the extraordinarily beautiful landscape. From around 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, you will visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, which locates at the Shigatse city. It is the seat of Tibetan’s second highest incarnation, the Panchen Lama.
Tips: this afternoon, our guide will take your passport to obtain the PSB permit (Alien’s travel permit) and it takes about 30 minutes. During this period, you may either wait in the vehicle or just walk around. The application could be arranged next morning alternatively according to the local PSB situation
Accommodation: Shigatse city Gesar hotel or Shigatse Manasarovar Hotel or similar one if late booking
Day 2: Shigatse- Shegar-EBC (340 km, about 7-8 hours)
Landscape driving from Shigatse city to Rongphu Monastery (Shegar), which is the highest monastery in the world at 16,404 feet (5,000 m) high, and belongs to Nyingma section. After visiting Rongphu Monastery, we will drive to campsite. You can choose to trek for 4 km (about 1.5 hours) or take a local shuttle for about 25 RMB from campsite to Everest Base Camp (EBC). You do not want to miss this stunning sunset from EBC sightseeing stand.
Tips: the toilet in Everest Base Camp region is quite simple and not clean.
Accommodation: Dormitory basis–Nomad tent house near Campsite or guesthouse near Rongphu Monastery
Day 3: EBC to Shigatse city (340 km, about 6-7 hours)
Waking up this morning below the stunning north face of Mt. Everest (8844.43 m), the tallest mountain on Earth, you will enjoy the Everest Sunrise and catch the last glimpse of Everest. For those travelers who want to go to Base Camp in the morning to have a closer view to Everest, we can take the local shuttle to Everest. B.C. After taking the photos, we come back to Campsite and then head to Shigatse (340 km). You will be wrapped again in the endless vistas of the Tibetan plateau during the trip.

Day 4: Shigatse city-Gyantse-Karola Glacier-Lake Yamdrok-Lhasa (350 km)
After breakfasts, we will leave Shigatse at 8 am for Gyantse. The 90 km landscape driving takes about 2 hours. In Gyantse we are going to visit Palkhor Choede Monastery and Kumbum Pagoda which is famous for “the Ten Thousand Buddha Pagodas”. After lunch we will drive onward to Karola Glacier. Far in the distance, you’ll spot the towering massif Mt. Nojin Kangsang (7,191m) and the staggering Karola Glacier (5,045 m). And the other highlight attraction to see is Lake Yamdrok. We will drive along the lake bank road to Mt. Kamba La (4990 m) where you will face the gorgeous Lake Yamdrok and have amazing view of the lake. Here you may consider to have a cheap yak ride and picture shooting if you want. And finally we will get back to Lhasa around 6:30 pm.
