Tour Program Outline

Day 01: Kathmandu-Kyirong border about 120 km(Zhangmu border is not accessible ater the earthquake), 4/5 hrs drive.
Day 02: City tour at Kyirong and rest yourself.
Day 03: Kyirong border – Saga (4,600m), 280km, 6 to 7 hrs drive.
Day 04: Saga-Paryang – Manasarovar Lake (4,560m). 506km, 7/8 hrs drive.
Day 05: Manasarovar Lake to Darchen (4,560m) 40km, 2 hrs Drive.
Day 06: Darchen – Diraphuk Monastery (5,080m). 25km, 7 to 8 hrs trek.
Day 07: Diraphunk – Zuthulphuk Monastery (4790m) 22km, 6 to 7 hours trek.
Day 08: Zuthulphuk Monastery – Darchen, 11km, 3 – 4 hrs Trek.
Day 09: Darchen to Zanda (3650m, similar altitude of Lhasa) 280km, 8 hrs drive.
Day 10: Tsanda-Toling- Tsaparang-Guge Kingdom Ruins-Tsanda
Day 11: Tsanda-Tirthupuri Hot-spring-Manasarovar, 320km, 4 hrs drive.
Day 12: Manasarovar-Saga, 506 km, 8 hrs drive.
Day 13: Saga –EBC
Day 14: EBC- Kyirong Border. 300 km, 8hours drive
Day 15: Kyirong Border – Kathmandu. 120 km

Day 1: Nepal to Tibet Border Kyirong


After having breakfast, your Nepalese guide drive to Timure. Here, the Nepal Immigration Office will investigate visitors’ visa and passports. Please be noted that the Kathmandu to Border transfer will be arranged by yourself. After crossing the Friendship Bridge (Miteri Bridge), the Chinese Immigration office will check the Chinese Visa one by one. Later, our local Tibetan guide and driver will pick you up at the Chinese border and drive you safely to Kyirong. We will check in at the local standard hotel in Kyirong.

Day 02 Rest and get fully acclimatized


Today is a complete resting day at Kyirong border. You just need to relax and get acclimatized with the high altitude. You can also do some preparation for your later trekking tour.

Day 03 to day 05: Kyirong-Saga-Manasarovar-Darchen


During the three days, you will drive across the Thongla Pass (4,950 m) and Peikutso Lake at the foot of the Mount Shishapama (8, 012 m) to the west Tibet. The landscape along the road is marvelous. You can see a region with ancient lifestyle, lone groups of nomad’s families and few black tents with yaks around. At Lake Manasarovar, we can see the peak of the holy Mount Kailash. After hiking up to Chiu Monastery on the small hill nearby the lake, we can have a stunning view of the holy lake. This night, you will stay at budget hostel or guesthouse.

Day 06 to Day 08 (3 days’ Circumambulation trekking)


We will start the trek route at Darchen. This place was used to be an essential sheep station for local nomads, but now it is a popular point of hostels and restaurants as it is the start and end point of the circumambulation trek which located right in front of the Holy Mount Kailash. The whole trekking is about 58 km. Travelers can follow the step of devoted believers with the view of Alpine Valley, snow-covered mountain, and glaciers. The trek descend after crossing he Dolma La Pass (5,600 m), then you need conquer the steep and rock-strewn valley to Zuthulphuk. After passing the Zuthulphuk, you can easily trek to Darchen and finish the circuit trek.

Day 09: Darchen to Tsanda, about 280 km, 4-5 hrs driving


Today, we will drive south-west towards Ngari We need to turn off to Tsanda at Moincer, through a zigzag road and then we arrive at Tsanda.

Day 10 Tsanda-Toling- Tsaparang-Guge Kingdom Ruins-Tsanda


Guge was an ancient kingdom in western Tibet, Ngari Prefecture. The predecessor of Guge can be dating back to Xiangxiong Kingdom, after the collapse of Tubo Kingdom, the establishment of the Guge Kingdom started in the 10th Since the ruins of Guge Kingdom had been discovered, a number of explorers, travelers, photographers and artists came here to try to figure out how the Guge Kingdom disappeared overnight. Though people tried so hard to find the answers, the disappearance of Guge Kingdom remained one of the top unsolved mysteries of Tibet. Today, the ruins of Guge Kingdom is more likely a cultural relic for people to take a close look of the lost civilization.

Day 11 Tsanda-Tirthupuri Hot-spring-Manasarovar,320 km, about 4 hours driving


We can choose to enjoy a hot spring bath at Tirthupuri Hot Spring and then we will drive back to the holy lake Manasarovar. After arrival, you can relax yourself around the lake’s bank. We live at the guesthouse near the lake this night.

Day 12: Manasarovar-Saga, 506 km, 8 hrs drive


You can enjoy the breathtaking landscape along your ride.

Day 13: Saga – EBC


Except enjoying the breathtaking landscape all the way to EBC, today you can explore the beauty of the mysterious Mt. Everest. Mt.Everest is considered as ‘the Third Pole of the Earth’. Covered with snow all year round, its glacier area has reached ten thousand kilometers. As climbing Mt. Everest requires a lot of money and time, so most travelers choose the base camp as the best sightseeing point to enjoy the beauty of this snow-covered mountain. We can stay overnight at EBC’s camping with travelers from all over the world. If the weather is good, we can also appreciate the Milky Way at night.

Day 14: EBC- Kyirong Border. 300 km, 8 hrs drive


After having breakfast, we will drive from EBC to Kyirong Border. You can still enjoy the stunning views on the car.

Day 15: Leave Tibet Kyirong border for Nepal 120 km


Our Tibetan guide and driver will send you to the border. Your Tibet Pilgrimage ends with our agency. You can choose transportation to get back to Kathmandu by yourself. It is convenient to take the local public transport between Kathmandu and Tibet border. If you need private transportation, please inform us to customize it further.
